Working in so-called third countries

Work done while locally employed in countries other than EU/EEA member states or Switzerland cannot be acknowledged in the Finnish employment requirement. Working in a third country does not lengthen the review period (28 months).

If you have received daily allowance from the Fund right before you left to work in a third country and your maximum payment period has not been used up yet, then your employment requirement will remain active. In this case it is important that you keep your membership with the Fund active during your work abroad.

Work in a third country can accumulate the employment requirement only if it is work for a Finnish employer done as a posted worker.
